Summer Camp

Summer is for fun-filled days, starry nights, and campfires complete with s’mores with your friends by your side. So pack your bags Girl Scouts! It is going to be one unforgettable summer.

Which Outdoor Experience will make this your Best Summer Ever?

Schedule super packed? Never been to camp before? Worried about homesickness? We get it! GSHPA has outdoor opportunities ranging from one day to two weeks long, and options that are accesible for girls at any comfort-level. Or, just want to go camp? No problem! You do need to be a member of Girl Scouts to participate, but you can join and be a Juliette (independent Girl Scout participant) and attend camp! Select one of the sessions below to jump in on the fun!

  • Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania Camp for the whole family
  • Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania Mini Camp: 3 days of camping fun
  • Pennsylvania Overnight Camps near Harrisburg, Scranton, NEPA, Central Pa, Gettysburg, and Denver
  • Girl Scouts in the Heart of PA Counselor Training Program

 

Summer Camp Registration

Get Ready for Registration!

 Registration must be completed by the parent/guardian of the girl. 

 Please have the following information handy before you start your registration:

  • All camper medical insurance details from your ID carrier including: carrier, name of insured policy holder, policy/group numbers, insurance company phone number, etc.
  • All information for your camper's physician and dentist, includng name, address, and phone number
  • All details regarding immunizations
  • All details regarding any medical conditions and disease/health history
  • All details regarding any camper medications/prescriptions, including name of drug, dosage instructions, etc.

Be prepared to enter all of your information in one sitting (of 1 hour or less before system time-out) as our registration platform will not save partial submissions or incomplete entries!

 GSHPA's Member Services team will be available on February 3rd, 2020 from 8:30am-5pm to assist you with the registration process. Reach them at MemberServices@gshpa.org or 800.692.7816.

Ways to Pay

Deposit: All sessions and camp requires a $50 nonrefundable deposit.

GO!Dough: GO!Dough can be used to pay your desposit and the remaining balance for any GSHPA sponsored program including Summer Camp 2020.

Financial Assistance: Income should not determine whether a girl can experience the magic of camp. Apply for financial assistance during registration. Be aware that financial assistance is a finite resource. Not every girl will qualify; qualified candidates are not guaranteed to recieve 100% camp cost coverage. Financial assistance applicants are still required to pay the camp deposit and complete the camp registration process. If your financial assistance application is not approved, the deposit will be refunded if cancellation is required. 

Financial Assistance will not cover the off-site trip option for Cadettes/Seniors or Family Camp.

Financial Assistance will only cover up to $300 for the Adventure Awaits program.

Payment Plan: All final balances are due two weeks prior to your selected camp session.  You are able to pay by either logging into your DoubleKnot account or calling Member Services at 800.692.7816.

Refund and Cancellation Policies
  • A full refund, minus the deposit, will be given to cancellations before 05/31/20 unless there is an approved medical reason for the cancellation.

Adventure Awaits Explore all of the adventure elements that Camp Small Valley has to offer - climbing wall, Leap of Faith, Giant Swing, and the high challenge course! In addition, girls will take part in two off-site trips: a 3-hour paddle on the Susquehanna River and a 6-mile hike on the Appalachian Trail.

Julie Queen

GSHPA Program Manager

Camp Name: Master Splinter

Julie has been with GSHPA since September 2017. She graduated from Millersville University with a B.S. in Environmental Biology. After graduation, she served in the Peace Corps in Ecuador as a Natural Resource Conservation volunteer for over two years. Julie has worked for both the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. In 2016, Julie completed a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail (AT) and worked as a Ridgerunner on the AT in 2017. She is a proud Lifetime Member of the Girl Scouts. Julie is a Leave No Trace Master Educator and is certified in Wilderness First Aid, First Aid/CPR/AED, is an American Red Cross Lifeguard, and a Level 1 Archery instructor. When not at Camp Small Valley, Julie can typically be found hiking in the woods.

Sarah Baldwin

Outdoor Program Coordinator

Camp Name: Donnie

Sarah joined the GSHPA team in the Fall of 2017. Sarah began her career at the University of Maine, where she majored in Wildlife Ecology. After graduating, Sarah traveled the states working at a variety of outdoor education centers and camps before making her way back to the Girl Scouts. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for teaching outdoor education and her love for camp. Sarah is certified in Wilderness First Aid, First Aid/CPR/AED, and is an American Red Cross Lifeguard. Sarah enjoys reading, kayaking, and hiking in her free time.
