Walking 1,000,000 miles is going to be a team effort. So, in the spirit of a little healthy competition, we’re beginning an Olympic Challenge. Every Girl Scout grade-level represents a team. We have Team Daisy (blue), Team Brownie (brown), Team Junior (purple), Team Cadette (red), and Team Senior & Ambassador (orange). Any participating adults and/or community members can choose the team with which they will be walking.
When Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania announced the Healthy Promise goal to walk 1,000,000 miles by May 1, 2014, we were counting on one thing…YOU! We’ve set an ambitious, but totally achievable goal as long as we have YOU on the team. We invite all Girl Scouts and their friends and families to join us in this community effort.
Here’s how you can join us:
Get Active
Start by getting active! Active people walk, run, skip, hop and jump. Any activity that increases your heart rate and makes your muscles stronger can be counted as Healthy Promise activity.
Track Your Miles
Next, track your miles with the handy Healthy Promise Miles or Minutes Tracker. Every step counts! Write down your miles if you know how far you’ve gone or write your minutes if you know how long you’ve been active. Thirty minutes counts as one mile toward our goal.
Report Your Miles
Click here to report your miles or minutes on the first of every month. You can report your activity as an individual or as a group. If you are walking as a troop or group, you should designate a captain for your team and he or she can report your group’s total miles each month. Make sure to enter your personal information the same way every month so we can track your miles. You will be eligible for rewards throughout the year when you’ve hit certain milestones!
