Religious Awards

The religious awards program emphasizes community service and helps girls discover more about their religious beliefs, themselves, their church and their family. Girls work on the programs independent of their other Girl Scout activities under the direction of their clergy or qualified lay counselors. Of course, the active participation of parents furthers the overall goal to help the girls become stronger members of their respective faiths. Religious awards can be earned by both girl (ages 6-17) and adult Girl Scouts. Religious recognitions for adults honor distinguished service and outstanding leadership in work with young people in both Girl Scouting and the church or synagogue. The actual presentation of the religious award is conducted by the recipients' religious group during regular services or special recognition ceremonies.

Religious Recognitions for Girls and Adults in Girl Scouting

The following national organizations have created recognitions to encourage girls to grow stronger in their faith. Girls Scouts of the USA has approved these programs and allows the recognition insignia to be worn on the official uniform, but each religious organization develops and administers its own program. Check with a Girl Scout shop or contact the religious organization directly to obtain the curriculum booklets.
