Jeannette Archer-Simons is the first Chief Executive Officer for the Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania Council. The council formed on May 1, 2007 with the realignment of four existing councils; Scranton-Pocono, Hemlock, Penn’s Woods and Penn Laurel. Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania represents more than 45,000 girls and more than 16,000 adult volunteers with a budget exceeding $9 million. The new council reaches from the northeastern counties of Pennsylvania in an arc through central Pennsylvania to the southern border of the Commonwealth. The headquarters is located in Harrisburg with service offices throughout the council. Archer-Simons, a 16-year Girl Scout veteran joins the new council from the Connecticut Trails Council where she was responsible for an annual budget of $7.1 million, implementing a five year fund development plan and a long-range property plan, and the restructuring and expansion of the organization. An Iowa native, Archer-Simons began her Girl Scout career as an Assistant Executive Director with the Mississippi Valley Girl Scout Council, Rock Island, Illinois in 1991 where she managed the fund development, finance and administrative services departments. In 1994 she became the Executive Director, CEO of the Girl Scouts of Broward County, Fort Lauderdale, Florida where membership increased by 37%, $1 million in a capital campaign was raised and the construction of a 20,000 sq. ft program/community center was completed. She became CEO of the Connecticut Trails Council in March of 1999 where she increased membership diversity, increased product sales revenue by 50% and contribution revenue by 250%. Archer-Simons received her undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Iowa and a Masters of Business Administration from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. She is a Certified Fund Raising Professional, a member of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals, American Association of University Women, Rotary, National Association of Women Business Owners, Leadership America, Junior League, five Chamber of Commerce organizations and the Association of Girl Scout Executive Staff. Prior to her 15 years as an executive staff member with Girl Scouting, she worked in the for-profit sector and has experience in financial and estate planning, advertising sales and marketing in industrial and insurance sales. She is currently working on a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration. |
