Janet Donovan

President and Chief Executive Officer


Janet is a retired U.S. Navy Two Star Rear Admiral and former Deputy Commander in the Office of the Judge Advocate General (JAG) of the Navy with more than 20 years of executive experience in strategy development, talent management and collaboration. She has completed numerous professional development and executive training courses in strategic planning, strategic communication and innovation, coalition-building, finance and accounting, cyber security, risk management and ethics.

Janet received her law degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. She has seen firsthand the character-building impact that Girl Scouts can make in the lives of young women, and believes Girl Scouting provides a distinctive experience to prepare our next generation of confident and capable leaders.  



Deb Bogdanski

Chief Operations Officer


Deb Bogdanski currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer for Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining GSHPA, Deb served as Chief Development Officer at Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson (NY). As a Lifetime Member of Girl Scouts, Deb was herself a girl scout as a girl, and as an adult served in multiple volunteer roles including serving on the Board of Directors for Sarah Wells (legacy council) and then Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson Board.

Deb’s professional experiences including leadership roles in both for profit and not for profit organizations.  She was the General Manager for Frontier Communications 9 years, and Vice President for Government Affairs with the Orange County Chamber of Commerce. Following her passion for Girl Scouts has led her back to taking on staff positions with Girl Scouts.  



Krystell Fox

Chief Financial Officer


Krystell Fox is the Chief Financial Officer at the Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania and has over 17 years of experience leading finance and human resources in both for-profit and non-profit settings.

Early in her career, she recognized the integral link between finance and human resources in order to achieve measurable business results. Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Maryland, she went on to earn a Master of Science in Human Resource Development from Villanova University.  She also holds SPHR and SHRM-SCP certifications.

Earlier in her career, she served as the Director of Finance & Human Resources for the NC State Chamber of Commerce.  She took some time off work to start a family and after relocating to central PA, she re-entered the workforce as the Chief Financial Officer for Mobile X-Ray Imaging.  She most recently served as the VP of Finance and Support Services for the United Way of the Capital Region where she facilitated their transition to a collective impact model to launch community initiatives in healthcare education and workforce development.

Krystell and her husband John are avid scuba divers and enjoy traveling and exploring warm waters whenever their schedules allow.



Nancy Venner

Chief of Strategy & Policy


Nancy Venner as Chief of Strategy & Policy oversees the Marketing/Communication and Fund Development teams as well as leads all public advocacy efforts for the council. In addition, the Chief of Strategy and Policy will work closely with the GSHPA Board of Directors and other members of the leadership team in developing and implementing long-range strategic plans.

Venner is a mission-driven professional who brings significant executive-level non-profit leadership experience to GSHPA. She has cultivated gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations, enhanced and built community relations plans, and led the Board of Directors and leadership teams through long-range strategic initiatives. Her leadership background includes such organizations as ALS Association, the Alzheimer’s Association, and most recently serving as the Executive Director for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Central PA.
