Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania (GSHPA) is excited to announce that it will be providing round-trip bus service for its day campers at Camp Happy Valley in Adams County and Camp Furnace Hills in Lancaster County this summer.
At a reduced rate of $55 per week, parents and caregivers have the opportunity to ensure their girls have a ride to Summer Day Camp. GSHPA is rolling out the new bus service initiative to help eliminate any transportation challenges that might arise for parents seeking camp experiences for their girls.
Camp Happy Valley Day Camp will be held July 18-22 with three bus service locations based in Spring Grove and Hanover. Camp Furnace Hills Day Camp will be held August 1-5 with three bus service locations based in Lancaster and Ephrata. Tentative pick-up times range from 7:15-8:15 a.m. and drop-off ranges from 5:00-6:10 p.m. More details concerning bus locations and times can be found on GSHPA’s Day Camp webpage.
GSHPA is also offering discounted Day Camp registration for parents and caregivers who volunteer during their camper’s Day Camp session. In addition to discounted registration, volunteering for just one day of their camper’s experience will guarantee free bus transportation for the entire week. Financial assistance is also available for all qualifying girls. For those who qualify, GSHPA will cover the full cost of the camper’s bus service. Girls can apply for this financial assistance when signing up for bus transportation.
Discount registration rates for Day Camp volunteers include:
- 50% off Day Camp registration and free bus service for adults who volunteer for their camper’s entire Day Camp session and serve as a bus chaperone during the week.
- 25% off Day Camp registration and free bus service for adults who volunteer two to three full days of their camper’s Day Camp session and serve as a bus chaperone on those days.
- 10% off day camp registration and free bus service for adults who volunteer one full day of their camper’s Day Camp session and serve as a bus chaperone the same day.
Volunteer/chaperone spots are limited and will be given on a first come, first serve basis. Day Camp registration and instructions on how to apply to be a volunteer can be found on the Day Camp registration forms on GSHPA’s Day Camp webpage. Girls must have a current Girl Scout membership before they can register for GSHPA Day Camps and sign up for bus transportation. Camp registration and bus sign-ups will close June 30.
