Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania (GSHPA) is excited to announce four outstanding women who have been selected as honorees for GSHPA’s Women of Distinction Celebration event on Sept. 14, 2022.
Each woman represents one of the four pillars of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE), which includes science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), Life Skills, Entrepreneurship and Outdoors. As champions of women in leadership roles, the selected honorees serve as positive role models and figures of inspiration to girls and women in our local communities. The honorees include:
- Dr. Pamela Gunter-Smith, President of York College, STEM pillar honoree
- Kim Lemon, former Senior Anchor for WGAL, Life Skills pillar honoree
- Betsy Hamm, Chief Executive Officer for Duck Donuts, Entrepreneurship pillar honoree
- Shannon Gority, Executive Director for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (Pennsylvania Office), Outdoors pillar honoree
“We greatly look forward to honoring these women for their accomplishments in the areas of STEM, Life Skills, Entrepreneurship and Outdoors. The four pillars of the GSLE serve as crucial touchpoints for Girl Scouts. Our honorees show girls in our local communities the importance of these fundamentals and the opportunity for success they offer,” said Janet Donovan, GSHPA President and CEO.
GSHPA will also recognize the legacy of Marion Nivert as this year’s recipient of the GSHPA Generational Award. This award celebrates those who have lived by and shared the values of Girl Scouts with their community and future generations.
The celebration will be held at the Country Club of York at 1400 Country Club Road, York, Pa., 17403. The event will include a mix-and-mingle reception, served dinner, silent and live auctions and additional event surprises. Individuals interested in attending must be at least 21 years old.
