Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania to host Women of Distinction Celebration at Country Club of York

Harrisburg, PA (July 11, 2022) – Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania (GSHPA) is excited to honor five outstanding women at its Women of Distinction Celebration event on Sept. 14, 2022.

GSHPA will recognize the legacy of Marion Nivert as this year’s recipient of the GSHPA Generational Award. This award celebrates those who have lived by and shared the values of Girl Scouts with their community and future generations.

Each honoree represents a component of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE), which includes science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), Life Skills, Entrepreneurship and Outdoors. As champions of women in leadership roles, the selected honorees serve as positive role models and figures of inspiration to girls and women in our local communities. The honorees include:

  • Dr. Pamela Gunter-Smith, President of York College, STEM honoree
  • Ms. Kim Lemon, former Senior Anchor for WGAL, Life Skills honoree
  • Mrs. Betsy Hamm, Chief Executive Officer for Duck Donuts, Entrepreneurship honoree
  • Ms. Shannon Gority, Owner and Principal Consultant for Raindrop to River Consulting, Outdoors honoree

The celebration will be held at the Country Club of York at 1400 Country Club Road, York, Pa., 17403 from 6 to 9 p.m. VIP guests, honorees and sponsors will be invited to a pre-event reception with general admission attendees joining later for a meet and mingle reception, silent auction and cash bar. The program will begin with a seated dinner followed by the award presentation and a live auction. The evening will conclude with s’mores and a campfire song.
