Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania announces new committee members

Harrisburg, PA (September 29, 2022) – Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania (GSHPA) is excited to announce the approval of several new committee members.

“We are so excited to welcome these new committee members to our organization. These passionate volunteers help us continue making a difference in our local communities by building girls of courage, confidence, and character,” said Janet Donovan, GSHPA President and CEO.

Fund Development Committee:

Courtney McFarland, of Enola, Pa., serves as the communications manager at LeTort Trust. She is responsible for all aspects of communication for LeTort including client communications, press releases, website administration, and the financial literacy program administration. She also serves on the Board of The Community Check-Up Center (CCC). Having seen the positive impact of Girl Scouting in her own life, McFarland enrolled her stepdaughter as a Daisy Girl Scout this year.

Shelly Matter, of Duncannon, Pa., serves as an independent consultant for HB McClure Company. She is responsible for managing the company’s workforce development, community outreach, and marketing strategies while working with the leadership team to assure company goals and initiatives are being met. She also serves on the board for The Partnership for Career Development (PCD) and the UPMC Women’s Auxiliary, I.F.M.A. (International Fund Development Committee). Matter is the owner of Seventh + Lavender LLC, a family-operated creative studio boutique in Newport, Pa.

Volunteer Strategy Committee:

Renee Mattei Montgomery, of Elizabethtown, Pa., serves as firm member and chair of the Associates Committee for Eckert Seamans. She focuses her practice on a wide variety of labor and employment matters in state and federal trial and appellate courts throughout Pennsylvania. Montgomery is active in her community through involvement with the Salvation Army Harrisburg Capital City Region, Women Involved, United Way of Southern Pennsylvania’s Women’s Leadership Council, National Multiple Sclerosis Society Leadership Council, and the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. She was a Girl Scout for 12 years and served as a Girl Scout volunteer for over 15 years.

Property Committee:

Lisa Myers, of Hershey, Pa., serves as the chair of the Advisory Services Group at Boyer & Ritter, LLC. For over three decades she has provided financial reporting, control, risk, and process improvement to benefit public and private sector entities. She also serves on the board for United Way of the Capital Region, is a founding member of the Harrisburg chapter of the Women Presidents’ Organization, and is a member of the Penn State University Advisory Board at the Harrisburg campus. Myers is a former Girl Scout.

Tracie Witter, of Montoursville, Pa., serves as regional affairs director for PPL Utilities. She is the first point of contact with elected officials on behalf of PPL and works with them on major projects at the local, state, and national level. She also serves on the board for the Wildlife Leadership Academy and the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce. Witter is a former Girl Scout, and her favorite Girl Scout memory is learning how to sew.

Finance & Audit Committee:

Sheila Dow-Ford, of Harrisburg, Pa., serves as president of Dow/Ford Strategies, LLC. She is an independent consultant to, and executive director of Impact Harrisburg. A frequent speaker, writer, and community volunteer, she has been a member of many boards including the Education and Policy Leadership Center, PA Partnerships for Children, the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg, and the Pennsylvania State Board of Education. She is also a founding board member of Harrisburg University and the Sylvan Heights Science Charter School.
