It's YOUR DAY of NUCLEAR SCIENCE! Join the Women in Nuclear at Penn State at the Breazeale Nuclear Reactor for hands on experiments in nuclear science and technology including: using Geiger counters to find ionizing radiation, measuring the half-life of radioactive isotopes, a demonstration of a reactor startup and more! Lunch will be provided and completion of the program will earn your scout a fun patch!
Please note: Adults will need to show photo ID for entry.
Troops attending this event must adhere to the girl-adult ratios outlined in Volunteer Essentials. Individual girls must attend with a parent/guardian. All troops must have at least two unrelated chaperones. All adults attending the program MUST be registered. Please consider only registering enough adults in order to maintain ratio. Any additional adults will take away from girl spots.
You will receive additional information regarding your program about 1 week prior to the start of the event.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Program fee refunds will not be issued for cancellations received ONE WEEK or less before the event. Registration transfers will not be possible once the event closes. If GSHPA staff need to cancel the event due to low enrollment or other factors, program fee refunds will be issued and registrants will be notified.
