Harrisburg, PA (September 29, 2023) – Did you know that trees purify the air and combat climate change? Trees also provide habitat for millions of species, protect against floods and erosion, and provide a tranquil environment.
You can do your part to make difference in your community by joining Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania (GSHPA) for a tree-planting event. The planting will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, at Richard M. Nixon Park, 5922 Nixon Drive, York. Spearheaded by a Lifetime Member of Girl Scouts, the event will bring Girl Scouts, volunteers and community members together to plant 700 trees throughout the property.
“Girl Scouts is committed to supporting environmental issues and encouraging girls to get outdoors,” said Kim Krummerich, Regional Director for GSHPA whose territory covers York County. “The tree planting is the perfect opportunity to put the tenets of Girl Scouting into action - using resources wisely and making the world a better place.”
The tree planting will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will run until 2 p.m. or upon completion of the project. The address for parking for this event is 400 Valley Road, York. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up to help with the tree planting at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/camp-echo-trail-tree-planting-tickets-694237431847.
