What: Camp Furnace Hills historical barn grand opening
When: Thursday, June 26; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Camp Furnace Hills, 300C Project Drive, Denver
Details: Join Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania for the grand opening of a newly restored historic barn at Camp Furnace Hills. Once a central gathering space for Girl Scout programs, the barn suffered severe damage during a 2017 storm. Thanks to the generous support of Bob Ackerman, who was inspired by his late wife’s lifelong dedication to Girl Scouts, the barn has been rebuilt to serve new generations of girls.
This revitalized space, adjacent to the historic Foxfire House, a traditional German bank house, will once again welcome Girl Scouts for programs that foster connection, learning, and community.
Media opportunities:
Capture photos and video of the restored barn, which blends historic character with modern updates.
Interview Bob Ackerman about his wife’s legacy and why this project was so meaningful to their family.
Speak with Girl Scout staff and Foxfire House program leaders who helped bring the restoration to life.
