Harrisburg, PA (March 2025) – As Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania gets ready for another exciting summer camp season, girls will have a new tool in hand to dive deeper into environmental science, thanks to the support of the Scranton Area Community Foundation.
A grant from the foundation has provided funds to purchase Clean Water Study Kits, now available at Camp Archbald, a historic camp located in Kingsley, Susquehanna County. These kits will be accessible to all Girl Scouts who attend summer camp or visit Camp Archbald throughout the year.
Designed to inspire curiosity and environmental stewardship, the Clean Water Study Kits provide girls with hands-on opportunities to test and analyze local water quality. By engaging in this scientific exploration, Girl Scouts will learn more about water safety and environmental health while building STEM skills in a fun and interactive way.
“We are so grateful to the Scranton Area Community Foundation for helping us bring these meaningful learning experiences to Camp Archbald,” said Lindsey Reider, Director of Program for Girl Scouts in the Heart of PA. “As Girl Scouts experience Camp Archbald, these kits will play an important role in connecting girls to the natural world and encouraging them to make a positive impact on their environment.”
